Bear Flat Open Studios/house/small flat

It's the Bear Flat open weekend next weekend 25th-27th may...there will be prints, cat tape, bags, cards and other things up for grabs.

I've also made a few new small prints, including these flamingos...which will be available for the first time, so please come along, if there's time I might even make cakes...

In other news my 'Do you feel lucky' print has been short listed for the Association of Illustrators awards in the self initiated category.

judge a book by its cover

One of the reasons I wanted to be an illustrator was that I thought I'd get to read lots of books before illustrating the covers...well that dream finally came true last year when I got to read a proof of 'The Shock of the Fall' by Nathan Filer...It's finally come out and I hope it does well as it's a good read! (I read it in about 2 sittings).

I did a few illustrations for the inside as well as the lettering for the cover...here's a little film about how it was designed ...http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22365984

 Margo enjoyed reading it too...

golf cats

I put in a 10 and a half hour day in the print studio this saturday (surviving on cups of tea and a bag of nuts, sometimes there are biscuits lurking in the studio but sadly not this time). I printed sleepy cats for the Bristol Affordable Art Fair which is coming up on the 26th-28th april.

Some sheets of black paper have been tucked away under the sofa for ages so I fished them out and printed these gold cats (when typing gold on my phone predictive text says golf first)
after the gold/golf came a bit of colour...
meeow. By the end of the day I was covered in blobs of shades of grey ink and my arms had a  light dusting of gold/golf powder. Wonder why no one sat next to me on the train home.

crafty fox

I definitely should have mentioned this before now but anyway - I have a table at the Crafty Fox market at the Dogstar pub in Brixton on saturday (that's tomorrow!)...and so does the lovely http://www.alice-shields.co.uk

I've made lots of new smaller things as my table is small and the journey is long(ish)...Margo has done a great job modelling them...

painting at MGHQ

I've painted some XXL signs (using a paint colour called radicchio!) for Melanie Giles Hairdressing http://melanie-giles.co.uk It's not often I get my big brushes out but I really enjoyed doing this so they may well get another outing pretty soon

While I was there with my brushes I wrote these too...I could learn a lot from Melanie's organisational ideas, I can never find all the things I need for car MOT- ing and everything else in life that needs paperwork.

Not only is she super organised Mel also has a great blog http://happiestinhunters.blogspot.co.uk

shelf of dogs

I recently paid a visit to the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath as Lucy Auge bought the amazing shelf of dogs to my attention - thanks Lucy http://lucyauge.blogspot.co.uk

It's giving me print ideas, well I've wanted to make a print with barking ceramic dogs, mewing cats and tweeting birds for ages but my 'Loving you is easy....' print http://www.charlotte-farmer.co.uk/personal/index.shtml?slide=17 has never been that popular.

So should I do it?

I like these little boxes too especially the one with the head on it. hmmmm
